DirecTV Has Eyes for The Nine and Other Snubbed Series

The Nine

If you're a Tim Daly fan, or if you love Leverage in part because it seems vaguely familiar, there are good times ahead.

DirecTV has inked a deal to broadcast the short-lived TV series Eyes, Smith and The Nine — unaired episodes and all.

A Ray Liotta-fronted drama about an all-star ensemble of master thieves, Smith served up just three episodes during its original CBS run. But starting April 8, DirecTV's 101 Network will unspool all seven produced episodes, airing Wednesday nights at 10 pm/ET.

Next, The Nine will get its due. The serialized drama about the hostages of a bank robbery will have all 13 of its episodes, including four hours never seen on ABC, air on DirecTV starting May 27. The Nine's cast included Tim Daly (now a star of Private Practice), Kim Raver (in her first après-24 outing) and Scott Wolf.

Perhaps the biggest treat is in store for fans of Daly's other underappreciated TV gig, Eyes. Come July, all 12 episodes of that series — seven of which never saw the light of day — will air on DirecTV every Wednesday at 9 pm. Interestingly, Kate Walsh guested on Eyes before it got pulled, establishing a chemistry with Daly that Private Practice has (with varying degrees of success) tried to capitalize on.

All three of DirecTV's acquired series will be presented in hi-def and without commercial interruption.

Previously this TV season, as part of a series-saving partnership with NBC, DirecTV premiered the third season of Friday Night Lights. The satellite service provider is in talks to do so again for possibly two more 13-episode seasons of the acclaimed drama.

Not that beggars can be choosers, but what other canceled series would you like to see DirecTV (or anyone else, for that matter) "revive" in their produced entirety?

Which of DirecTV's upcoming "revivals" has you most excited?
