The ABC special, co-hosted by Ryan Seacrest, Jenny McCarthy and Fergie, averaged 9.8 million viewers through five and a half hours, topping the ratings of all three other networks combined. The part of the program that aired from 11:35 p.m. to 12:32 a.m. scored an average of 22.6 million viewers and a gain of 3.8 million viewers.

New Year's Rockin' Eve came in second among all ABC specials for the year, only being outperformed by the Academy Awards.
