The Truth Is Out There
When Josh Gates goes on a road trip, he's got bigger problems than worrying about a flat tire. Like potentially running into the occasional ghost, Yeti or leprechaun. As the host of Syfy's Destination Truth (9/8c), which returns for its fourth season tonight, he's traveled the globe many times over to explore (and sometimes expose) mysterious myths and legends.
TV Guide Magazine: Where are you going this season?
Gates: We'll be looking into hauntings in Pompeii and Angkor Wat and searching for the Nandi beast in Kenya, and the Mngwa beast in Tanzania.
TV Guide Magazine: Would you rather prove these legends true or debunk them?
Gates: I just want to be able to tell a great story and take viewers on a seat-of-your-pants adventure.
TV Guide Magazine: What's the scariest moment you've ever had?
Gates: We had an airplane mishap last season, in a Russian plane, when the roof ripped off during a flight. There are times when you feel like it'd be better to be talking about cakes on the Food Network.
