TVLine reports Dermot Mulroney is joining the Fox sitcom as a smart, rich and handsome love interest for Jess (Zooey Deschanel) — who happens to be the father of one of her students. Although the two don't start off on the right foot, eventually their chemistry kicks in.

Mulroney, 48, is well known for his films My Best Friend's Wedding, Lovely & Amazing, The Wedding Date and The Family Stone, and will star in the upcoming NBC remake of The Rockford Files. His New Girl arc is set to air in March or April.
