Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher's Divorce May Go to Trial

More than a year after Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher announced they were separating, Moore is filing divorce papers against Kutcher — which means the breakup may go to trial, the New York Post reports.

For the past 16 months, Moore and Kutcher have been trying to reach a settlement privately, but Moore is unsatisfied with their progress and her lawyers are expected to file papers in Los Angeles District Court this week, according to the Post. A rep for Moore did not immediately respond to an email from TVGuide.com
Kutcher filed divorce papers in December, reportedly as a result of inaction by Moore, but according to the Post, Moore had initially planned to not file her own papers until a settlement was reached. If Moore and Kutcher's lawyers can't reach a settlement by the spring, the divorce will go to trial.

Moore has worked sporadically in mostly independent films since she and Kutcher split, while Kutcher is the highest-paid actor on television for his starring role in Two and a Half Men, netting $24 million in 2012. He's also playing Steve Jobs in an upcoming biopic of the Apple co-founder.
