Deadliest Catch Guru On Reality TV and America's Lost Treasures

Thom Beers

Got Fourth of July plans? We'll pencil in America's Lost Treasures (Wednesday, 9/8c, National Geographic Channel), folks. A cross between Antiques Roadshow and the high-school history class you skipped one too many times, the fascinating competition from Deadliest Catch executive producer Thom Beers features hosts Kinga Phillips and Curt Doussett as they scour the country for some seriously important artifacts worthy of being displayed in the National Geographic Museum in Washington, D.C.

We were recently invited to sit down with Beers, as well as TV bloggers Andy Dehnart from RealityBlurred.com, Roger Catlin from RogerCatlin.com and Kate O'Hare of Tribune Media Services, to discuss the landscape of reality television. The discussion covered everything from the Kardashians and The Hills to Catch, Treasures and yes, The Bachelorette. Here's a sample of the convo (more will be available on nationalgeographic.com).

What do you think of reality TV? It's not all housewives and horrible toddlers, right?
