Report: CW Entertainment President to Leave at End of Season

Dawn Ostroff

CW Entertainment President Dawn Ostroff is expected to step down at the end of the current TV season, Deadline reports.

According to the site, Ostroff plans to leave at the end of her contract in June in order to relocate to New York with her husband and children. The decision is not yet final, but she is expected to make it official in early 2011.

Ostroff has run The CW since its launch in 2006. Prior to that, she served as the head of UPN, where she ushered in hits like America's Next Top Model and Everybody Hates Chris. At The CW, she launched buzzworthy breakouts including Gossip Girl and The Vampire Diaries.

For the time being, Ostroff remains focused on launching the CW's midseason entry, Shedding for the Wedding, as well as ordering pilots for the 2011-2012 TV season, according to Deadline.

It seems Ostroff would leave the network on a high note, too. The CW is up 7 percent this season in total viewers, thanks to the continued strength of hits like Diaries and Smallville, and the solid performances thus far of freshman series Hellcats and Nikita.
