Take heart, 007 fans! The 23rd James Bond film will go into production later this year with Daniel Craig returning as the iconic secret agent.

MGM and EON Productions announced Tuesday that the movie, slated to premiere Nov. 9, 2012, will be directed by Sam Mendes (Revolutionary Road) with a screenplay written by Neal Purvis, Robert Wade and John Logan.

Announcements for the latest film in the James Bond franchise were delayed indefinitely because of MGM's bankruptcy and Spyglass heads Gary Barber and Roger Birnbaum taking over management of the studio.

Craig made his Bond debut in the 2006 film Casino Royale, following in the footsteps of Pierce Brosnan, Timothy Dalton, Roger Moore, George Lazenby and Sean Connery.
