Another member of Cougar Town's cul-de-sac crew may fly the coop.
Dan Byrd, who plays Courteney Cox's son on the ABC comedy, has signed on to star in Louis C.K.'s untitled CBS comedy, Deadline reports.
The pilot tells the story of a group of young people trying to follow their creative dreams despite the tough current economic climate. Byrd will play Fred, a smart film editor who serves as a sardonic observer of other people and their weaknesses.
Pilot Season: Cougar Town's Josh Hopkins joins NBC comedy
Byrd's casting is in second position to Cougar Town, which means if the ABC comedy is renewed for Season 3, Byrd would have to be recast in the new project. Byrd's co-star, Josh Hopkins, also signed on for a comedy pilot in second position.
Cougar Town's most recent episode grabbed 4.3 million viewers and a 1.5 rating in the adults ages 18-49 demographic.
