Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be pageant queens!
Toddlers & Tiaras returned last night for its third season and once again, we got a peek into a world where the wild things are spray-tanned, over-indulged and just plain awful. None more so than the little slice of Hell known as Makenzie. Four-years-old, finger-wavingly disrespectful and physically abusive toward her own deluded mother, this little monster made the Real Housewives look like Seventh-Day Adventists.
But Makenzie is more than just a junior league (and more sane) Kelly Bensimon in pull-ups and lip-gloss. She's proof of just how savvy this show is at exposing the messed-up world of kid pageants and who's really to blame for these brats. Watching the moms last night, in their ill-fitting t-shirts and stunted metabolisms, as they fit their spawn with fake teeth and generally pimped them out for prize money, it finally dawned on us that T&T isn't about the kids. It's about the crimes being committed against them by their own parents.
