Alan Cumming Drops Out of Spider-Man Musical

Alan Cumming

Alan Cumming has traded in the Green Goblin for The Good Wife.

The 45-year-old Tony-winning actor has dropped out of the Broadway musical Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark because of conflicts with his new gig on CBS' legal drama. Cumming recently was promoted to a series regular.

Evan Rachel Wood exits Spider-Man musical

"The Spider-Man team could not resolve conflicts with my dates on The Good Wife," Cumming wrote on his website.

He expressed his disappointment "that I will not have the chance to collaborate with Bono and The Edge, and to work with Julie Taymor on the stage."

Cumming's departure follows Evan Rachel Wood's exit last month from the show, which features music from U2's Bono and The Edge under Taymor's direction. Financial and other troubles have delayed the musical, but it's now slated to open later this year.
