Showtime has given a pilot order for Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, a 30-minute "comedy with musical elements" from writers Aline Brosh McKenna and Rachel Bloom.
Bloom stars in the project as Rebecca, a successful, driven, and possibly crazy young woman who impulsively gives up her partnership at a prestigious law firm and her upscale apartment in Manhattan to move to West Covina, California looking for love.

"This pilot is an exciting change of pace for us," Showtime President David Nevins said in a statement. "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend is built on the inspired comedy and songwriting of Rachel Bloom — who we believe is ready to break out."
The pilot will be directed and executive-produced by Marc Webb (The Amazing Spider-Man).
Brosh McKenna's writing credits include The Devil Wears Prada andWe Bought a Zoo, while Bloom has written for Robot Chicken and guest-starred on How I Met Your Mother.
