Michael Jackson's Doctor Keeps California Medical License

Conrad Murray

Conrad Murray, the doctor charged with involuntary manslaughter in Michael Jackson's death, will keep his California medical license.

Judge Michael Pastor on Monday told the courtroom that, because a previous judge only restricted Murray's use of sedatives, he did not have the authority to fully suspend the doctor's license, Reuters reported.

"I simply don't have the ability to revisit the actions of one of my colleagues," Pastor said.

Any further suspension would have to be an appeal to the previous judge's ruling.

Pastor set Aug. 23 as the date for Murray's preliminary hearing.
