Chris Brown Tops BET Awards

Chris Brown topped the 11th annual BET Awards, taking home four trophies including Best Male R&B Artist.

"All my fans are everything to me ... I know it's been a long road. I just appreciate every blessing that's been put in front of me," he said during one of his acceptance speeches.

Brown also won Best Collaboration and two fan-voted awards, the FANdemonium Award and the Coca-Cola Viewers' Choice Award.

A mix-up occurred over the second award Sunday night when Tiffany Green, the fan who won the opportunity to present the award, first called Brown's name as the winner, but then switched it to Rihanna. Then Drake was announced as the winner.

"This is awkward," Drake said on stage. Rihanna and Brown previously dated and Brown pleaded guilty to assaulting her in 2009. Turns out Brown really was the winner of the fan-voted award, and BET executive Stephen G. Hill later said the discrepancy between the tablet stating the winner and the teleprompter was caused by human error.

Patti LaBelle received the Lifetime Achievement Award and singers Cee-Lo Green, Beyonce, Gladys Knight, Shirley Ceasar and Marsha Ambrosius all took part in a tribute.

Comedian Kevin Hart hosted the ceremony.
