Chord Overstreet

It's almost hard to recall what Glee's New Directions looked — and sounded — like before the arrival of Sam Evans, played by Chord Overstreet. Here's why we think his blond ambition strikes just the right note.

1. That "Billionaire" voice.
The son of Nashville singer/songwriter Paul Overstreet grew up playing piano, guitar and drums. "Every time I walk by his trailer he's playing guitar," says costar Heather Morris (aka Brittany). He already sounded like a pro on his first episode, belting out "Billionaire," which he'll likely perform on Glee's concert tour.

2. He's Bieber-tastic.
"It looks a little similar to Justin Bieber's," admits Overstreet, 22, of his signature 'do. (Raising the stakes: His recent rendition of the teen wonder's "Baby, Baby.")

3. He hasn't gone Hollywood.
Growing up as one of six kids on a Nashville farm — where he fed goats — forever humbled the guy. "You really can't take yourself too seriously in this business," says Overstreet, who's mastered playing the harmonica... with his nose. "I play a great 'Oh Susanna.'" He also delights cast mates with impersonations. Says Morris, "He does James Earl Jones and George Bush. All day."

4. Those lips!
Somehow, his mixed heritage — he's German/Irish/English with a dose of Native American — added up to one seriously plump pout. Raves Morris, "They're gorgeous — so beautiful." The better to sing with!
