Micheal McKean

Cheers to Law & Order: Special Victims Unit for a multigenerational tour de force from Michael McKean and Cameron Monaghan.

Spinal Tap funnyman McKean turned in his scariest dramatic performance ever as a reality-TV producer who drugs and rapes prospective contestants, while Monaghan — best known as gay teen Ian Gallagher on Shameless — stole the episode as his anguished son, who took a young girl hostage in an ill-conceived attempt to protect his depraved dad.

And they weren't this week's only impressive guests: Harry Connick Jr. and Linus Roache returned as ADAs, stand-up legend Robert Klein reprised his role as a defense attorney and Nashville Star breakout Miranda Lambert convincingly embodied a desperate celebrity wannabe. Thanks to such a stellar roster, SVU is — like Spinal Tap's last album — Back from the Dead.
