Returning to his recurring role as Seth, the alcoholic-musician ex-husband of Sarah, all the Sex and the City vet had to do was show up for a couple of brief scenes and seem drunk. With his typical underacting, Corbett couldn't even manage to pull that off.
It didn't help matters that the irresponsible ex reappearing to threaten Lauren Graham's budding romance — in this case, with the appealing Jason Ritter — was a bit too reminiscent of Gilmore Girls. Like Sarah, Parenthood needs to divorce itself from Corbett's character pronto.
