Cheers to Emmy Rossum for her flawless performance as a wise-beyond-her-years teenager on Shameless.

The 24-year-old actress is still best known for her glossy musical turn in 2004's big-screen version of Phantom of the Opera, but she's right at home in Showtime's gritty new dramedy about a gothically dysfunctional Chicago clan. As Fiona, eldest daughter of the often-unconscious Frank Gallagher (William H. Macy), Rossum heart-tuggingly toggles between hyper-responsibility and the desire to cut loose, in every sense of the phrase.
Rossum's gotten a sizable amount of media exposure thanks to her nude scene in Shameless' pilot, but her nakedly emotional acting is even more revealing. With breathtakingly honest work like this, we won't be surprised if Emmy wins one.
Do you think Emmy Rossum's the best part of Shameless?
