ABC's rookie cop drama engaged in the best kind of nepotism by casting star Michael Imperioli's doppelganger son, Vadim, as his onscreen offspring. The scenes between absentee dad Fitch and his long-estranged kid, Bobby, resonated with an impressively realistic awkwardness and affinity. (Vadim also played a younger version of his pop in ABC's 2007 TV-movie Oprah Winfrey Presents: Mitch Albom's For One More Day.)
After being left behind by his dad in New York City, Bobby's spending a week in Detroit, while his mom (a well-cast Alicia Coppola) vacations in Hawaii with her new fiancé. Sadly, Detroit 1-8-7's lifespan may be even shorter — the abbreviated first season's finale airs Sunday at 10/9c. Catch it before ABC 86's 1-8-7.
