SPOILER ALERT: Stop reading now if you haven't seen this week's episode!

After the truly shocking reveal in last week's episode that morose teenager Violet (Taissa Farmiga, movie star Vera Farmiga's much younger sister) succeeded in her suicide attempt earlier this season, FX's psychotically entertaining drama killed off another member of the Harmon clan—mom Vivien (Connie Britton), who died after giving birth to twins, one of whom may be the anti-Christ. The double-whammy plot twist seemed to put Britton out of her misery in more ways than one; for the last several weeks, when Vivien was locked up in a mental institution, the Friday Night Lights vet looked like she'd rather be in a real nuthouse.

Of course, no one ever really dies in the "Murder House," which allowed the episode (Season 1's penultimate chapter) to conclude with a surprisingly heartwarming family reunion between Vivien and Violet. Then again, to some people, the thought of being trapped in a house with your mother for eternity might seem like a horrific nightmare.
