Charlie Sheen was released on bond late Friday after he was arrested on domestic violence charges and spent most of Christmas day in an Aspen, Colo., jail.

A police report said the Two and a Half Menstar would be held without bail until a court appearance. But Sheen was allowed to leave jail when he posted $8,500 bond, The Associated Press reported.

Charlie Sheen arrested on domestic violence charges

Sheen, 44, was arrested early Friday morning on charges of second degree assault, menacing and criminal mischief. He is expected to return to Pitkin County for his first hearing on Feb. 8, 2010.

Police have not publicly identified Sheen's accuser.

Sheen's rep, Stan Rosenfield, said people should withhold judgment about the charges. "Appearance and reality can be as different as night and day. It would benefit everyone not to jump to any conclusion," Rosenfield said.
