Celine Dion Not Pregnant; In Vitro Determined Not Viable

Celine Dion

Contrary to the announcement made by Celine Dion's rep in August that the Canadian singer was pregnant with her second child, Dion's husband, Rene Angelil said she was not.

Angelil told Canadian newspaper Journal de Montreal that the couple believed that the in vitro fertilization treatment Dion, 41, underwent was successful, but found out shortly thereafter that the doctor was incorrect. Dion's rep told TVGuide.com the couple found out the next day that the treatment result was negative.

Dion underwent another in vitro fertilization treatment in October, according to Angelil, 67, but its results proved unsuccessful.

"We live the reality that the majority of the couples who do these procreation techniques face. The road can be long and difficult," Angelil said.

Dion and Angelil have an 8-year-old son, Rene-Charles, who was conceived via in vitro fertilization.

Regardless of the unsuccessful attempts, Angelil said that "the doctors are optimistic" and they are "filled with confidence."

"Celine is more determined than ever," he added.
