Supernatural's Ash is back from the dead — and heading to Castle!
Chad Lindberg has booked a guest spot on the second episode of the ABC drama's upcoming fifth season, TVGuide.com has learned exclusively. Lindberg will play Marco Massetti, a career criminal who runs afoul of Castle (Nathan Fillion) and Beckett (Stana Katic) after they discover their murder victim may have been involved with one of Massetti's jobs.
Exclusive: A bona fide Castle couple!
Lindberg's casting makes it clear that Castle won't waste any time getting back to solving crimes this fall. Although the ABC drama will no doubt deal with the aftermath of the steamy hookup between Castle and Beckett in the Season 4 finale, the Season 5 premiere will also quickly undo Beckett's resignation from the NYPD.
"Beckett is still under threat," creator Andrew W. Marlowe teases. "When [they] wake up the next morning ... in that blissful bubble that they may be in, life has a way of coming in and bursting that bubble. Real life intrudes really quickly, and that is part of Beckett's journey."
Heroes' Jack Coleman joins Castle
Lindberg's casting follows that of Heroes' Jack Coleman, who will recur this season as a powerful U.S. senator who comes into conflict with Beckett.
Besides his work as the mullet-having computer genius Ash on Supernatural, Lindberg is also known for his work in The Fast and the Furious. He also had a recurring role as lab tech Chad Willingham on the first season of CSI: NY and has guest-starred on such shows as Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Criminal Minds and, most recently, Weeds.
Castle returns Monday, Sept. 24 at 10/9c on ABC. Lindberg's episode, titlted "Secret's Safe with Me," is scheduled to air the following week.
