Cartoon Network anniversary

Cartoon Network celebrated is 20th birthday on Monday and has big plans to keep the party going this month. For the next four weekends, the network will have special birthday-themed programming, along with fan voting at cartoonnetwork.com for favorite shows and characters. Winners will be revealed on air the weekend of Nov. 3-4.

Since launching on October 1, 1992, Cartoon Network has grown from an upstart channel available in just two million U.S. households to one of cable's most popular programmers, now seen in 99 million American homes and 178 countries. The channel introduced us to such favorites as The Powerpuff Girls, Dexter's Laboratory, Samurai Jack and Ben 10 as well as more recent hits like Adventure Time, Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Regular Show, which just scored an Emmy for outstanding short-form animated program.

On Saturday morning at 11:28/10:28c, Cartoon Network will debut a special two-minute mash-up celebrating the many unique and iconic characters who have graced their screen over the last two decades. Among those appearing are several Looney Tunes and Hanna-Barbera favorites along with many of the network's original creations. Here's an exclusive first look at the clip.
