Carson Daly is in negotiations to host NBC's new singing competition series, The Voice, Deadline reports.

The Voice, announced by NBC in December, comes from veteran reality TV producers Mark Burnett (Survivor,) and John de Mol (Big Brother).

Based on the Dutch series, Voice of Holland, The Voice will feature four celebrity artists who each put together a team of singers that they will coach throughout the competition. Contestants will be eliminated until each coach has only one member left. They will then compete in the finals.

Daly, best known as the host of the late '90s pop-culture phenomenon Total Request Live on MTV, has a long-standing relationship with NBC. His late-night talk show, Last Call with Carson Daly, has been on the network since 2002, and he has also hosted the network's New Year's Eve special since 2003.

NBC is expected to launch the show sometime this spring, competing against American Idol. Daly and Idol host Ryan Seacrest are also morning hosts on competing Los Angeles hit radio stations.
