Burnett first appeared as Verla, the long-lost daughter of Langley Wallingford (Louis Edmonds), in 1983. She returned to Pine Valley 12 years later for the 25th anniversary of the soap, along with hosting the 25th anniversary prime-time special, and again in 2005 for the show's 35th anniversary.

"It is our honor and pleasure to welcome back Carol Burnett to Pine Valley. Verla Grubbs is a beloved member of the All My Children family and we look forward to reprising her character," executive producer Julie Hanan Carruthers said.

Burnett is one of many AMC alums returning to the show before it signs off Sept. 23. Eva La Rue, Josh Duhamel, Thorsten Kaye and Cady McClain will all be back as well.
