Carly Rae Jepsen Cancels Boy Scouts Concert in Support of LGBT Community

Carly Rae Jepsen

Carly Rae Jepsen has decided against performing at the Boy Scouts of America's summer concert because of the organization's ban on gay members, People reports.

"As an artist who believes in equality for all people, I will not be participating in the Boy Scouts of America Jamboree this summer" Jepsen tweeted to her fans on Tuesday. "I always have and will continue to support the LGBT community on a global level ... and stay informed on the ever changing landscape in the ongoing battle for gay rights in this country and across the globe."

The "Call Me Maybe" singer was motivated to pull out of the concert after a Change.org petition urging her to do so garnered more than 60,000 signatures. The other headlining act, Train, has not canceled, but will allegedly do so if the Scouts do not overturn their anti-gay ban during an upcoming vote in May.
