Captain America Breaks Harry Potter's Spell at the Box Office

Captain America: The First Avenger ousted Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 as the top grossing film at this weekend's box office.

The film, which stars Chris Evans, raked in $65.8 million, according to Box Office Mojo. This makes the Paramount and Marvel Studios movie the summer's top superhero box office debut.

Final Harry Potter film casts new records for biggest domestic and global openings

Falling a whopping 72 percent was the final Harry Potter installment with $48.1 million. The film has made $272.4 million in just two weeks.

Coming in third place was the romantic comedy Friends with Benefits starring Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis. The movie grossed $18.5 million in its debut outing.

Transformers: Dark of the Moon was the No. 4 film of the weekend making $12 million. The ensemble comedy Horrible Bosses came in right behind it with $11.7 million.

Zookeeper and Cars 2 were in the No. 6 and 7 spots with $8.7 million and $5.7 million, respectively.

Rounding out the top 10: Winnie the Pooh (No. 8, $5.1 million), Bad Teacher (No. 9, $2.6 million) and Midnight in Paris (No. 10, $1.9 million).
