Michael Douglas' Son Gets Additional Four and a Half Years in Prison

Cameron Douglas

Michael Douglas' son, Cameron Douglas, was sentenced to four and a half more years in prison on top of the five years he's already serving, The Associated Press reports.

Federal Judge Richard Berman decided that he was nearly doubling the sentence Wednesday in Manhattan, saying that the government had been too lenient on Douglas, 33, after he repeatedly violated prison rules by arranging to get drugs. The judge listed four instances in which a lawyer smuggled drugs into prison for Douglas in her bra.

Douglas asked the judge to give him another chance at treatment. Berman recommended that Douglas be sent to a prison facility that offers drug treatment and mental health care.

Douglas was first arrested in July 2009 for dealing methamphetamine from a New York hotel. He was sentenced to five years in prison in April 2010.
