Pilot Season: Vampire Diaries' Matt Davis Lands Lead in CW's Cult

Vampire Diaries' hunk Matt Davis has been cast as the male lead in CW's Cult pilot, TVGuide.com has confirmed. Deadline first reported the news.
In the drama, an inquisitive, young female production assistant (Melrose Place reboot star Jessica Lucas) on a wildly popular television show called Cult joins a journalist blogger (Davis) in investigating the rabid fans of the series who might be re-creating crimes seen on the program in real life. As previously announced, Robert Knepper and Alona Tal will also star.

Davis, who's also well-known for his role in Legally Blonde, portrays history teacher Alaric Saltzman, who is also Elena's current guardian on Vampire Diaries. The 33-year-old actor will be able to do both shows if Cult is picked up.
Rockne O'Bannon will write and executive-produce alongside Josh Schwartz, Stephanie Savage and Len Goldstein.
