CW Fall Lineup: Sarah Michelle Gellar's Back on Tuesdays; Secret Circle After Diaries
Sarah Michelle Gellar
The CW's fall lineup will find Sarah Michelle Gellar on a very familiar night and will feature Kevin Williamson and Josh Schwartz drama blocks.
Fall 2011 TV Scorecard: Which shows are returning? Which aren't?
Gellar's Ringer, which was originally developed for sister network CBS, will follow 90210 at 9/8c on Tuesdays — the same night Buffy the Vampire Slayer aired for most of its run on the WB and UPN before they merged into the CW. The thriller stars Gellar as a recovering alcoholic on the run from some shady characters. She hides out by assuming her wealthy twin sister's identity. One problem: Her sibling has a bounty on her head, too. Nestor Carbonell, Kristoffer Polaha, Tara Summers, Mike Colter and Ioan Gruffudd will also star.
Williamson will get Thursdays all to himself as The Secret Circle has scored the post-Vampire Diaries berth at 9/8c. Based on the three-book series from Diaries author L.J. Smith, Secret Circle stars Britt Robertson as Cassie, a young girl who loses her mother, moves to a new town and discovers that she is a witch — the key to a battle between good and evil. Thomas Dekker co-stars and Diaries' Williamson will executive-produce.
The CW orders Secret Circle, Hart of Dixie, Ringer and three reality shows
The move pushes Nikita to Fridays at 8/7c, to be followed by Supernatural.
Hart of Dixie, from Schwartz and producing partner Stephanie Savage, will be paired with the duo's other drama, Gossip Girl, on Mondays at 9/8c. Dixie reunites Schwartz with The O.C. star Rachel Bilson, who plays a New York doctor who inherits a small medical practice in the South.
One Tree Hill and Nikita renewed, Hellcats canceled
The Mario Lopez-hosted H8R, in which celebrities confront their haters, will anchor Wednesdays at 8/7c, leading into America's Next Top Model.
Held to midseason: the 13-episode, ninth and final season of One Tree Hill, and reality shows The Frame and Re-Modeled.
