A week after ABC bought a reimagining of the Beauty and the Beast fairy tale, The CW is developing a reboot of the '80s cult drama Beauty and the Beast, TVLine reports.

The original series aired on CBS for three years and starred Linda Hamilton and Ron Perlman in the titular roles. The CW version, which will be written by Jennifer Levin (Without a Trace) and Sherri Cooper (Brothers & Sisters), will be a modern-day love story with a procedural twist.
ABC brings Beauty and the Beast to life
ABC's project, which is based on the public-domain fairy tale, is a more traditional take, with Belle being forced to live with Beast in his enchanted castle.
