CSI: Miami Scoop: Alana De La Garza Returns for the Season Premiere
David Caruso and Alana De La Garza
CSI: NY won't be the only show in the hit CBS franchise to feature its protagonist's late wife in the season premiere. Alana De La Garza, who played Marisol, the wife of David Caruso's Horatio Caine on CSI: Miami, will reprise her role in Season 10, TVGuide.com has learned.
Marisol, who was also the older sister of Eric Delko (Adam Rodriguez), was shot by a sniper in the show's fourth season.

Co-executive producer Barry O'Brien tells TVGuide.com that Marisol's return will play a part in resolving last season's cliff-hanger, in which Horatio was also shot. So, does Marisol appear in a dream? Does Horatio see her as he's going toward the light?
"It is a very, very personal encounter that gives him inspiration and insight into his predicament and ultimately how that predicament is resolved," O'Brien hints. Horatio will also get closure. "He is able for the first time to deal with and perhaps process that intimate and devastating loss in his life," O'Brien says. "Horatio is in that transition phase where, as closure is happening, all sorts of powerful emotions rise to the surface, and there's also ... an opportunity for transition, for moving on."

Word of De La Garza's return follows the news that CSI: NY's season premiere will, for the first time, feature the late wife of Gary Sinise's Mac Taylor in flashbacks. De La Garza's appearance marks the first new footage of her on CSI: Miami since her character's death.
Since her time on CSI: Miami, De La Garza has recurred as prosecutor Connie Rubirosa on both Law & Order and Law & Order: Los Angeles.
CSI: Miami returns Sunday, Sept. 25 at 10/9c on CBS.
