Jason O'Mara could be going from fighting dinosaurs to riding with cowboys. The Terra Nova star has joined CBS' untitled cowboy drama starring Dennis Quaid and Michael Chiklis, TVGuide.com has confirmed. Deadline first reported the news.

Written by Goodfellas' Nicholas Pileggi and Without a Trace's Greg Walker, the project is about Ralph Lamb (Quaid), a real rodeo cowboy-turned-sheriff, in 1960s Las Vegas. O'Mara will play Ralph's younger brother, Frank. Chiklis is on board as Johnny Savino, a Chicago mob fixer whose plans for Vegas clash with Lamb's.
Could Netflix pick up Fox's canceled Terra Nova?
Because producers are still shopping Terra Nova, which Fox canceled two weeks ago, to other networks — including Netflix — O'Mara would stick with the show and bow out of the CBS pilot should Terra Nova get picked up elsewhere.
