CBS Hires Heather Locklear for Assistants

Heather Locklear won't have to dig deep for her next role. She'll be playing a famous actress.

The former Melrose Place star has landed a lead role in CBS' sitcom pilot, The Assistants, according to Deadline. She'll play Ali, a big-name actress whose emotional problems and insecurities may have led to her success.

Ali and her husband require the help of four assistants, including Mike (David Henrie), a guy who hails from the same small town in Pennsylvania as Ali. TJ Miller, Emily Rutherford and Lamorne Morris will play the other three assistants.

Tucker Cawley of Parks and Recreation and Everybody Loves Raymond wrote the project and will executive-produce with Eric and Kim Tannenbaum. Pam Fryman will direct.

Locklear's last sitcom stint was on Spin City. She most recently appeared in the Lifetime movie He Loves Me.
