Britney Spears' Driving Case Is Dismissed, Y'all

Britney Spears

Pop's reemerging princess has even more to smile about today, as Britney Spears' driving-without-a-license case has been dismissed.

Jurors were deadlocked, 10-2, in favor of acquitting the star after more than eight hours of deliberation. A mistrial was declared on Tuesday, with prosecutors announcing several hours later that they would not pursue the case further, the case was dismissed.

Two key questions jurors had challenged the validity of Spears' case, which focused on an incident in August, 2007, when she was stopped by police in Los Angeles and found to be driving with a Louisiana license. First, jurors were unclear whether driving with an out-of-state license is illegal, and, secondly, they wondered why she was stopped in the first place.

If there were any doubts still lingering about Britney's comeback after her multiple VMA win — and her seductive new music video for "Womanizer" — the answer is now official.
