Bret Michaels will undergo surgery in January to fix a defect in his heart, E! Online reports.
"It's for the hole in his heart," his rep told the site. "I don't know any specifics."

The 47-year-old rocker suffered a life-threatening brain hemorrhage and a subsequent stroke earlier this year. While hospitalized for the hemorrhage, doctors discovered a hole in his heart from birth, but said the defect is "operable and treatable."
The recent Celebrity Apprentice champ is currently on his nationwide Roses and Thorns tour, which wraps in December. After surgery, his autobiography (Roses & Thorns: The Reality of My Rock & Roll Fantasy) is scheduled to hit stores in March.
