Pilot News: NBC Puts Bradley Whitford Back on Duty

Bradley Whitford

NBC can't get enough of Bradley Whitford.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the Emmy-winning West Wing alum and star of the short-lived Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip is returning to the Peacock as the star and producer of a new single-camera comedy pilot Off Duty. Weeds' Romany Malco will costar.

The show focuses on Whitford as a once-legendary police detective on on his way down who makes life difficult for his up-and-coming, straight-shooter new partner (Malco). The pilot is being written by Upright Citizens Brigade comedian Jason Mantzouka, who will also co-executive produce with Scot Armstrong and Ravi Nandan.

Despite comedic turns in movies like Billy Madison, Whitford is better known for his dramatic roles. Do you think alongside The 40-Year-Old Virgin's Malco, Whitford will be able to bring the funny?
