Box Office: The Butler Stays On Top

Lee Daniels' biopic The Butler retained the top spot at the box office this weekend with $17 million in earnings, a 30 percent dropoff from its opening weekend, Box Office Mojo reports. We're the Millers also held strong at the No. 2 spot, bringing in $13.5 million in its third week.
The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones opened in third place with $9.3 million, followed by The World's End, which earned $8.9 million in its debut weekend. It narrowly topped Planes, which landed in fifth place with $8.6 million.

Elysium fell to sixth place in its third week with $7.1 million, while horror film You're Next landed at No. 7 in its opening weekend with $7 million.
At No. 8 was Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters with $5.2 million.
Woody Allen's Blue Jasmine rose from 14th to ninth place, raking in $4.3 million after opening in an additional 1,000+ theaters in its fifth week.
Kick-Ass 2 closed out the Top 10 with $4.27 million.
