Box Office: Puss in Boots Claws Its Way to the Top

Puss in Boots clawed its way to the top of the box office straight out of the gate, Hollywood.com reports.
The Shrek spin-off grossed an estimated $34 million in its opening weekend. Last weekend's No. 1 film, Paranormal Activity 3, scared up another $18.5 million the weekend before Halloween to rank second.

The sci-fi film In Time opened to $12 million to take third place. Footloose was grounded at No. 4 with $5.4 million. The Rum Diary, starring Johnny Depp, was the lowest premiere of the weekend — drawing $5 million to take fifth place.
Real Steel took the No. 6 spot with $4.7 million. The Three Musketeers followed in seventh place with $3.5 million.
Rounding out the top 10: The Ides of March (No. 8, $2.7 million), Moneyball (No. 9, $2.4 million) and Courageous (No. 10, $1.8 million).
