The Red Sox never trailed in Game 6, getting things started with a three-run double by Shane Victorino in the third inning, followed by a solo home run by Stephen Drew in the fourth.

The Cardinals threatened in the seventh inning, loading the bases with the score 6-1, but Boston closer Junichi Tazawa got them out of the jam.

The last time the two teams met in the World Series was 2004, when Boston swept St. Louis in four games.
