Boom Box-Carrying Say Anything Mob Takes New York

Say Anything

A Lloyd Dobler mob — or "Mobler" — took over New York City Tuesday.

The mob, a group of young men wearing trench coats and white T-shirts, hoisted boomboxes over their heads and serenaded passersby with Peter Gabriel's "In Your Eyes."

The whole shebang, a re-creation of a scene from Cameron Crowe's film Say Anything..., was staged to celebrate the release of a 20th anniversary edition of the film on DVD. Indie band The Lloyd Dobler Effect was on hand to accompany the Doblers.

Fans joined in throughout the day, as everyone was encouraged to "B-Y-O-Boombox!"
