Bob Newhart will guest-star in an upcoming episode of The Big Bang Theory, TVGuide.com has confirmed.

As first reported by TVLine.com, the Bob Newhart Show and Newhart star will play Professor Proton, the former host of Sheldon's (Jim Parsons) favorite science show while growing up. Sheldon will hunt Professor Proton down after learning online that he can be hired for parties and events.
Newhart will appear in an episode slated to air Thursday, May 2.
The Big Bang Theory airs Thursdays at 8/7c on CBS.
