HBO Renews Boardwalk Empire for Fourth Season

Boardwalk Empire has been renewed for a fourth season, HBO announced Tuesday.

"Terry Winter, Martin Scorsese and the rest of their outstanding team continue to produce a stunning show that never fails to surprise and entertain," Michael Lombardo, HBO's programming president, said in a statement.  "We are excited to bring this unique series back for a fourth season."

The pickup comes two weeks after the show's Season 3 premiere, which drew 2.9 million viewers.

Boardwalk Empire: Is Nucky ready to be a real gangster?

Boardwalk
chronicles the life of Nucky Thompson (Steve Buscemi) during the Prohibition in Atlantic City. The series recently received four Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Directing for a Drama and Outstanding Cinematography for a Single-Camera Series.
