Former Dexter star David Ramsey has been tapped for the recurring role of newly elected Mayor Carter Poole, TVGuide.com has learned exclusively. Poole's political background includes his work as a community organizer, but he is also a liberal who is particularly soft on crime.

As we previously reported, that doesn't necessarily sit well with Frank (Tom Selleck). However, a source tells us that despite getting off on the wrong foot, the two will ultimately be able to work together.

Besides his role as criminal informant (and Debra's love interest) Anton Briggs on Dexter, Ramsey has also recurred on Ghost Whisperer and Wildfire. He most recently appeared on NBC's short-lived Outlaw and CBS' The Defenders.

Ramsey will first appear during Blue Blood's Season 2 premiere. The show returns Friday, Sept. 23 at 10/9c on CBS.
