Billy Ray Cyrus
One week after opening up about the destruction of his family, Billy Ray Cyrus is hoping to put it back together.
"It is very important to me to work on mending my family right now," the country singer, 49, told People in a statement Wednesday.
Billy Ray Cyrus: Hannah Montana destroyed my family
In an interview with GQ magazine released earlier this month, Cyrus blamed Hannah Montana for ending his 17-year marriage to wife Tish and compared his 18-year-old daughter, Miley, to late stars like Michael Jackson and Kurt Cobain.
"I'm scared for her. She's got a lot of people around her that's putting her in a great deal of danger," he told the magazine. "I know she's 18, but I still feel like as her daddy, I'd like to try to help. Take care of her just a little bit, to at least get her out of danger. I want to get her sheltered from the storm."

Cyrus called his comments to GQ "explosive, and unintentionally so."
Since filing for divorce in October, he has been spending time with Tish, 43, and their youngest daughter, Noah, 11, according to People.
"My family is the most important thing I have, and we are working together to make sure our future is stronger and healthier," Cyrus said. "It is all a learning process, and we thank everyone for their support and respect of our privacy as we sort through very important family issues."
