Ronald and Michael Morelli
Father-and-son duo Ron and Mike Morelli have been a strong force since entering The Biggest Loser: Couples campus. The last team to remain intact, the men from Michigan each overcame injury to complete a full marathon in their final week on campus. But it wasn't all smiles when, during the last weigh-in, both members of the original Brown Team fell below the yellow line. Before it's revealed who America has chosen to join Helen and Tara in the finale, the pair spoke to TVGuide.com about why Ron thinks Mike will be the one voted in, and how he and his son ended up choosing different trainers on the ranch.
TVGuide.com: How are you doing with a week until the finale?
Ron Morelli: I'm doing OK. It's going to be an interesting ride, the rest of the show, but for me in particular, I hope America votes Mike up.
TVGuide.com: Are you concerned that America will vote for you despite your plea for your son, like they did in Ed and Heba's case last season?
Ron Morelli: There's a part of me that worries a little, but I'm hoping Mike's won enough hearts that Heba didn't, and they'll vote him up. I'm hoping there's enough people that, regardless of what I said [during the plea], would have voted him up anyway.
TVGuide.com: Mike, what it was like being the youngest contestant?
Mike Morelli: Being the youngest contestant was pretty fun. I got to blame a lot of the stuff I did, like joking around, on being a kid. I was seen as the younger brother, the son, that kind of person, and it was fun. It was also cool being in an environment where I was seen not as 18, I was seen as older. So it was cool to be given the adult credibility.
TVGuide.com: You were also one of the most generous people in the house, like when you gave up your free year of groceries reward to Aubrey.
Mike Morelli: I think I've always been a more of a giving person. As soon as I heard about that reward, I was thinking, "Who am I going to give this away to if we win?" because I didn't really need it and anything of that nature that I really don't need, I give away or don't take.
TVGuide.com: Earlier in the season, you had the choice to choose your trainer and you each chose differently. Was there any discussion about it?
Ron Morelli: For me, it took a split-second to decide I was going to stay with Bob. I have a good relationship with Bob, him and I have become pretty good friends, and quite frankly, he's gotten amazing things out of me. At that point, I had lost over 100 pounds already and if it's not broke, don't fix it. That was the easiest choice I ever made.
Mike Morelli: For me, it was obviously a lot harder. I lost a lot of weight with both Bob and Jillian, and I couldn't make the decision, so it was just a spur-of-the-moment thing. I wasn't able to talk to anybody about it, and that made it really hard for me. I think I did pretty well [with Jillian].
