Is Chloe Sevigny pulling a Katherine Heigl?
Sevigny has apologized for her recent comments in which she called Big Love's fourth season "awful."
"I feel pretty terrible," Sevigny told Entertainment Weekly about her criticisms. "I feel like what I said was taken out of context, and the [reporter] I was speaking to was provoking me. I was in Austin [at the SXSW festival] and really exhausted and doing a press junket and I think I just ... I wasn't thinking about what I was saying."
Big Love renewed for fifth season
Last week, Sevigny told The Onion's A.V. Club she felt the recent season of Big Love was "far-fetched" and referred to it as a "telenovela." Sevigny's comments were reminiscent of Heigl's when the Grey's Anatomy actress pulled out of the Emmy race in 2008 because she felt she wasn't given the material "to warrant an Emmy nomination."
"It was awful this season, as far as I'm concerned," Sevigny said in the A.V. Club interview. "I'm not allowed to say that! It was very telenovela. I feel like it kind of got away from itself. The whole political campaign seemed to me very far-fetched."
You can decide for yourself if the A.V. Club took Sevigny's comments out of context, since the site has posted an audio snippet of her interview. (While The Onion is known for fake news, its A.V. Club includes real — and notably informed and in-depth — interviews.)
