BBC Orders More Doctor Who Episodes, But When Will They Air?
Doctor Who, Matt Smith
Rejoice! The BBC has ordered 14 new episodes of Doctor Who starring Matt Smith, The Guardian reports. But only the Time Lord may know when they'll air.
It's not clear exactly when the episodes will be scheduled, but a "good chunk" of them will air in 2012 , a BBC spokesman told the paper. "The new commission is a big commitment, not many other shows have such a commitment so far in advance. We do not know yet how many will air in 2012," the spokesman said.
From Nixon to the moon landing, Doctor Who takes on America
Regardless of the schedule, the news comes as a relief to fans who had heard reports of the hit show only returning as four specials and not a full season. More details are expected soon.
The current sixth season of the revamped show stars Smith as the 11th incarnation of the Time Lord. Nearly half of the current season's episodes have already aired, while the remainder will be held to air sometime in the fall.
Doctor Who airs on Saturdays at 9/8c on BBC America.
