Associated Press' Twitter Account Hacked
The Associated Press
The Associated Press' official Twitter account was hacked Tuesday, the organization confirmed.
Shortly after 1 p.m. ET, the account tweeted out a false report saying that there had been two explosions at the White House and President Barack Obama was injured. The AP's account has since been suspended.

The AP's media relations account quickly tweeted: "That is a bogus @AP tweet." Unfortunately, by the time the hack was exposed, the AP's Dow Jones stock had already dropped 140 points; it has since returned to its original standing.
The Syrian Electronic Army has taken credit for the hack, tweeting that it "owned" the AP, along with the hashtag #ByeByeObama. The group previously took credit for hacking the 60 Minutes and 48 Hours Twitter accounts over the weekend.
